Anonymous asked: Good morning,
I'm getting started on a column for the Wall Street Journal's metro section about bikes for everyday cycling here in NYC. It’s going to include some material on the Dutch bikes and the stores that sell them. Since you’ve devoted your blog to slow biking culture, I'm curious to get your take on buying one of these bikes vs., say, an old...

He got all dressed up and I rolled in with a bowling shirt… shoot me, i’m a fracking hipster… This year, @Amsterdamize is crossing the pond and we’re teaming up w/ @NyCycleChic to do an “UN-#5boro” ride! We really don’t care what you wear, as long as you dress to impress & it’s no-lycra.

Dueling Protests Over a Brooklyn Bike Lane – NYTimes.com.
a sensible Borough President would see which way the wind is blowing and would decide, you know what? I’m going to brag about the fact that Brooklyn is one of the best places in the entire United States of America you can come and live if you want to be able to get around by bike. If Marty lived with us here in the 21st century rather than being stuck in 1958, he would be taking credit for NYC...
Whats not surprising is that there was a collision on the bike path—though deceptively safe, that bike path is often packed with cyclists who ride even more recklessly because theyre not pedaling through traffic. Take it easy, people!

She’s so hot she’s making me a sexist. Bitch (NSFW)
I ride my bike everyday. I know the difference between a cruiser with a coaster break and a fixie. I call it a saddle, not a seat. I am no mechanic, but I can change a tire and fix a flat. Just because I ride in a dress and I like pink bikes, does not mean I am any...

Tomorrow night, I’m really looking forward to meeting The Path Less Pedaled at the Change You Want to See, 84 Havemeyer St, Brooklyn (Facebook link).

Governors Island is a small island located off of the tip of Manhattan. It’s one of those places where you go to get away from it all and this Saturday, that’s exactly what we will do. Once on the island, we will picnic and lawn game till our hearts burst with couchsurfing love.
We’ll be joined by Couchsurfers who are attending CouchCrash 2010 and NYC area cyclists who use twitter and other...

Perhaps thats the thing about the Dutch. When you’re submerged below sea level you can never stick your head in the ground. You’re always making new ground. You’re ground-breaking. You make the rest of the world look, well, submerged.
